The Best Blogs to Follow for Cheap Flights

Contrails by Jeff Kubina on Twitter
Here at RouteSalad we are often asked how to find cheap flights online. In reality, it’s all about keeping up to date with travel websites and blogs to hear about all the deals! Here are my favourite travel blogs to follow if you want to book cheap flight deals from the UK.

My favourite blogs for cheap flights

  • Secret Flying – travel blog with plenty of deals every day. It’s rare that these guys miss a deal so this is a great place to start.
  • – a European blog which often features deals from the UK or nearby. Strangely they seem to use this symbol (Ł) instead of the pound sign, so don’t get confused if you see it!
  • Holiday Pirates – probably the first travel blog I ever got into, Holiday Pirates have a range of flights, hotels and package holiday deals from the UK. This site is one of the easiest to navigate and is updated all the time.
  • Bonus: Flyertalk – okay so this is not strictly a blog. Flyertalk is travel forum is full of deals which frequent flyers uncover through a lot of trial and error. These deals then get picked up by the mainstream blogs as more people become aware of them. The terminology can be hard to get used to (members often write in code to prevent deals from being leaked to the airlines!) but there are some great deals. Try starting off in the Good Deals in Economy thread.

How I stay up to date with all my travel blogs

As cheap flights are often only available for a short amount of time, it’s important to book your tickets as soon as the deal becomes available. I have two methods for keeping up to date with my favourite travel blogs:
  1. Digg Reader – this website is a feed reader, enabling you to read all your blogs in one place. There are loads of different options out there but Digg Reader is my favourite and has a nice app for my iPhone, too.
  2. Enable Twitter notifications – once you’ve found a blog you like, follow them on Twitter and enable notifications. This way, you’ll get a notification on your phone whenever they share a new flight deal.

Any others?

If you are an avid reader of another blog with flight deals (or perhaps you write one yourself) let us know in the comments, we love visiting new sites!
